I had this dream early this morning and I woke from it feeling unsettled, but I'm not sure why.
I was staying at a very large hotel and had lots of bags with me along with a large trunk. I was going to leave and had just finished packing when I realised my trunk was missing. I searched frantically for it in my room and in the communal area on my floor, but couldn't find it anywhere. Also, nobody seemed to know anything about its disappearance. I started getting very upset as I really wanted to get my trunk back, especially as it contained valuable items (including sentimental childhood artefacts).
Not having any luck where I was, I decided to search other floors, starting with the floor beneath me, which was the 3rd. I took a lift to that floor and found myself in a spacious lobby with a dark red carpet. It was daytime, but the lobby itself seemed quite dark. I also observed two silver statuettes of lions along the far wall opposite where I stood. Tinny music was being piped through PA speakers near the celing which resembled 20s ballroom music similar to what you might here in Everywhere at the End of Time (google it). That was disturbing enough, but as soon as I started to walk into the lobby area, the music became distorted as if someone was tuning a radio through it. I was also filled with a great sense of unease standing in this lobby.
I then found myself looking over a balcony to a mezzanine floor below which was covered in the same dark red carpet. For some reason, I took out my phone to take a picture, but as I looked at the scene before me through the phone camea, I saw my trunk. In that weird, dream-like way, the balcony bent downwards towards the mezzanine, allowing me to step off. There were various workmen here and I realised it was one of these men who'd taken my trunk. I started arguing with the thief who was very unapologetic. Anyway, I now had my trunk back and just needed to figure out how to get it back upstairs as there seemed to be no lifts from the mezzanine floor. Turning a corner, I found myself looking at several doors (around 5). Two of them were toilets (women only) and three other doors with signs I couldn't read. The third door, it turned out, was for the maid's quarters and the dream ended as I saw a maid (who looked like my fiance's sister) open that door and walk up the stairs behind it.
As before, this dream made me uneasy (especially the music in the lobby), but I don't know why. The stolen luggage theme actually reminds me of an incident in real life where someone tried to steal my bag on a train and the thief, much like the one in this dream, was just as unapologetic and brazen when confronted.
